About the Herd

We believe cows should not only survive, but thrive on the natural resources of the land. The Wedge Tent Angus herd runs with minimal supplements and is expected to breed up, raise a good calf, and winter well, all on forage. The heifer calves are fence-line weaned and left on grass their whole lives. They are truly “Purpose Driven.” After their first winter, they are bred for only 30 days and are culled if not bred. This is a busy world, so any problems (and I mean any), and they are culled. Nobody has time to do things twice. Cattle that convert forage well, convert grain very efficiently. We believe everything is genetic and have at times culled whole cow families when needed. We have selected for maternal efficiency and overall correctness for over twenty years.
